Commonly used materials for drawing dies
Drawing die plays an important role in industrial production, its selection of materials directly affect the quality of the product and the service life of the die. Common materials for drawing die include natural diamond, polycrystalline diamond and CVD coated die. These materials are widely used in the drawing process of small wire and wire because of their wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
The selection of drawing die should consider the mechanical, physical and chemical properties matching between the wire and the die to ensure the service life of the die. Although these materials can process a variety of metals and alloys, they are each suitable for a specific range of processing. For example, natural diamond is suitable for drawing cemented carbide wire, while polycrystalline diamond and CVD coated die are suitable for drawing soft wire.
In addition, the drawing process is different from the stamping process, stamping is through the press and the mold to apply external force to the material to produce plastic deformation or separation, and drawing is to rely on tension to make the material through the mold. When selecting the drawing oil, the specific working conditions need to be considered to ensure that the material can pass smoothly through the mold when subjected to tension.
